I'm looking for new employment now and a lot of jobs are being advertised as Sage payroll needed. I have not used this software for about 10 years so wondered if someone could divert me to a free download of Sage. It is the software needed only to refresh my skills, I will not be doing any filing or eps, payslips or anything.
Hi Lisa
How about an intro before we start - we always ask newbies to the site.
What prof body do you belong to, do you work for yourself or in a practice/ firm, are you a bookkeeper or accountant, what qualifications, how long in role, where up to in your studies-what exams passed/with what body/in midst of doing, where based, what you did before this role? That sort of thing. Helps get to know you but also how best to pitch answers.
Also please you add your first name so that it appears under the signature bar on your posts. Saves everyone looking it up each time!! (Edit profile --->signatures).

Hi
I have studied via IAB doing accounts and payroll. L2/L3. I have worked in both fields for years for large organisations and now want a more personal touch so wanted a refresher on sage. I do tax returns for all my family and also husbands Ltd company. May look at tutoring payroll sage again so need to get practicing.
Not sure if its just me as it does seem that you havent quite decided your next direction in life.
If you have been a tutor in the past then by adding that to your CV shouldnt be an issue with regards to the employment opportunities you mention as the software doesnt really change from year to year.
Unless of course you have never dealt with the biggest recent change in the payroll industry - that of AE - are you familiar with that and how it all works? As that to a large part is not software specific. If you understand the theory then the putting into practice is the easier part and of course all sage payroll has support for any queries.
If you are considering tutoring sage payroll (Im assuming you are accredited to do so) then why not buy a package that will allow you to do so? Worth a chat with Sage I would say. Albeit if you do buy one for your own refresher you wouldnt be able to put that through as a business expense.
Sure as eggs are eggs Sage dont do anything for free. But you could try a trail period download.
Can you please you add your first name so that it appears under the signature bar on your posts. Saves everyone looking it up each time!! (Edit profile --->signatures). You cannot see it always from a phone, but you will on a PC

Thank you for that. I think I'll drop Sage a quick call tomorrow to see if there are study packages I can buy. I have spent the last 5 years or so working in payroll but, for really large organisations (10,000 weekly plus) so I understand all the AE etc. I have refreshed my manual payroll again and just wanted a refresher.
