Am I going mad but was there not a reply from Shaun on here yesterday with a sentence from a book or was that hangover I had even worse than I thought!

Alright don't shout lol. 99% of my reading is on Kindle now, and they don't do page numbers! Had to dig out my paperbacks which hadn't been unpacked yet.
Ah, I had that problem John but you can access page numbers through the three little lines at the top of the screen. They also show the LOC - whatever that is. Although the page numbers are not the same as in a real paper version.
Are you feeling a wee bit delicate today John with me not being able to shout? Looks like you mightve got in late last night - I noticed your 3am posting! Or was that just insomnia? Oooo reminds me www.youtube.com/watch (get dancing especially at 2.18 mins in)

I had the same problem as John - in addition to which the 'page numbering' in Kindle books aren't just "not the same" as real paper ones, they aren't necessarily the same as other people's copies of the same Kindle version, depending how you have the Kindle set up. (Different font sizes, etc). (And I've a feeling some don't have numbers at all). Also, given the nature of Kindle, which one of the many on a device is the "nearest" book?)
Luckily, after a hunt around I found the one I actually quoted from.
Another possibility for me would have been to load my own unfinished book - and on that page numbering is also not going to match a proper, printed book. I did use some maths to work out what, based on the current version, the sentence that would probably be if it was a published book, though - and it was this:
"She decided not to ask where on Earth he had acquired statistics about sock vanishings, and instead chose to try and get him to further the explanation."
And seeing as I'm somewhere else today, and there is a suitable book to hand:
"The idea of growing up normally was off the case."

Lol, I realised that the book that I had picked up didn't match with anyone elses of book and would have spoilt the flow. The book was harlequinn. One of the few to hand that not either a technical book or full of Elves and such (first book I picked up was one of those but lucky for all it actually had a picture on page 28... Yes, I read books that have got pictures in )... Hang on a sec, let me just find a different book... I've got a damn library for gods sake. there must be something in here that doesn't have either the word ACCA or Tax on the spine!
Here we go....

Promise I won't delete this one.

Clicked on that and it just gives me the details of the book together with a list of chapters you can jump too. Just finished an excellent book called Close Your Eyes by Darren O'Sullivan, about a man who suffered memory loss 15 years ago, and he is slowly remembering bits from his old life. When his ex partner and son are kidnapped, together with a demand to return something, it's a race against time to see if he can remember enough to save them.
I was up til 3 am this morning because it peed it down!! Not here but in the West Indies, where the final of the Caribbean Twenty Twenty (Cricket) was taking place. Delayed the match by one and a half hours and a loss of some of my beauty sleep.

Hilarious! You can't beat the system your know. I think you should put the original quote back on as well. Plus choose a third option to be on the safe side.

I should've guessed it was cricket related!

I sat on the back porch in my pajamas with Mom and Dad and Mrs. and Mr Kim, drinking lemonade and watching the blueness of the evening sky, listening to the cicadas and the TV noises from other apartments.

I actually phoned my sis outlaw to ask her to quote me a line from 50 shades to give you lot a giggle. But she told me she had taken the book to the local charity shop. Just imagining the faces on the little old bids when they realised what they had and bet it caused a bit of a stir in an otherwise dull day.

But that aside, I'm confused as to why I couldn't have been a text book/manual/etc. A few I have lying around:
"This oddly-named device operates together with the ALU to increase the overall processing power of the ARM." (The processing power of the ARM? This sounds a bit, er, one sided!)
"To change a value, click on it and enter the new value." (Ooer, missus, enter a new value, huh?)
"The lid can be held down with tape." =:o
"Then your supply takes place outside the UK." * Amsterdam, then? ;)
And "The cyclotron, linear accelerators, synchrotrons, the phasotron, the cosmotron, the bevatron - all are designed to impart energy to proton beams or fluxes."
Okay, with that last one I think I see your point. :)
Note: One *was* actually blank. ;)
* This one required putting two sentence halves in a table together.

I thought the non technical books but would make it funnier, but clearly I'm not reading the right kind of technical books as some of those are hilarious. As well as a bit, erm, worrying.
Reckon Shaun might have a couple of odd/good ones from his technical books. I'm off to check Tolley!

Very good Joanne, and quite funny. Going back to my quote, I didn't realise I had quite that effect.
We moved in April, but haven't unpacked some of the stuff I had on shelves at the old place. I've had the shelves put up last week, so I can finally unpack the rest of the stuff.

Actually it went much better than I thought. I had originally planned to hire a van and do the move myself over 2 days, but following a discussion with a friend I realised it was only going to be £50 dearer to hire a man and van. They arrived at 9 am and they had finished by 11.45!! We still had a few bits to move ourselves but I did that in a few car loads.
