HELP NEEDED TO FIGHT INTRODUCTION OF MTD

Taken from another site

Your chance to stop the madness of MTD

Original poster, an Accountant, received a circular on a call for evidence for the Lords Select Committee.

If you recall they are the ones who stopped full MTD last year so have considerable power to apply sanity.

Dont winge on here about it, provide evidence to the horses mouth about what a complete waste of time this is for everyone, and the costs invovled.

Questions on MTD

Making Tax Digital for VAT

What key improvements have occurred, or new concerns have arisen, since the Sub-Committees report on Making Tax Digital for Business was published in March 2017?

How prepared are HMRC, businesses (small and large) and software providers for the implementation of Making Tax Digital for VAT in April 2019, and what are the challenges of concurrent preparations for Brexit? The Sub-Committee would be interested in hearing about the experiences of individual businesses preparing for implementation, as well as more holistic responses.

What are the potential costs of Making Tax Digital for VAT for businesses? Businesses involved in the pilot programmes are encouraged to contribute their experiences.

How could the penalty regime and the new VAT interest regime proposed in the draft Finance Bill be improved or simplified?

What are the implications of having different penalty regimes for different taxes? This is a public call for written evidence to be submitted to the Sub-Committee.

The deadline is 1 October 2018.

Here is the link.   Please do submit your views.  Please also pass this on to the business folk you look after as this is as much for them to have a say as us professionals.

Sorry Joanne, it's been a hectic week, and none of it work related. Will sort this weekend.

Thought I'd replied to this earlier in the week - technology blip!
I'm still gathering my thoughts ready to complete. Need to make sure it's well presented and don't just say...'right you plonkers'!! That would be the polite version :}
