Hi Claire, welcome to the forum. You're only 40 miles up the road from me (Ripon)

I can't help out with the distillery apart from advising to watch out for the VAT!!

Hope you will stick around and join in with advice and banter

Hi Claire
Welcome to the madhouse. Be good to have someone on board who can assist with QB queries from other professionals.

Re the distillery......wide open question that one.

Janet is our resident gin expert. Although that is drinking it rather than clients who produce.

Best I can do at this stage is consider

Wastage/theft.

Try tax relief for beer duty/Excise note for beer duty 226 (no idea if that helps, you dont say what they are distilling)

Professional to do the stock valuations?

Specific software for eg stock holding, gallon tracking and loads more

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
