MTD client registration
Permalink Closed

Hi, I am a bookkeeper and registered as a non VAT agent and file my clients VAT returns online. With MTD looming will I have to re-register myself along with my clients for MTD if they have a turnover over £85,000?

If they have a turnover under £85,000 then I presume I wouldn't need to.

Thank you.

Hi Zoe

As Joanne says, this is covered in the MTD thread near the bottom.

When a client signs up to the new MTD for VAT, they will disappear from your current online agent account, and go onto a new agent services account.  For those registered for VAT but under the threshold, you can continue to use the current agent account.

There's no panic though.  The first VAT submissions on the new portal won't take place until July 2019, when the first full quarter ends in June.

In February I'll look into it a lot closer and do a much better summisation here than I already have, as I think there's going to be quite a number of confused agents.

Come on here every couple of days Zoe, there will be loads more updates as time progresses. You may have to keep an eye on all posts, rather than just those headed up MTD as sometimes the main posters ramble on using other posts (I can say that as Im guilty as charged). Plus you never know what other bits you will pick up, its good for MTD .....and feeling like you arent alone, so much less cause for worrying!!!!!!!
