Just a thought.

With the introduction of MTD will it still be necessary to retain paper records for the required number of years as we do currently?

Yes.

MTD is nothing to do with paper records, only paper accounting processes.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

As Joanne says but if you take a digital copy of the paperwork there is no need to retain the paper copy, providing it is kept securely for the requisite number of years.

Yes, that makes sense thanks.

I'm thinking of all the people who are busily photographing receipts on their phones to go straight onto cloudy software. They will just need to set up a file to keep them. I've got my work cut out with some clients and such matters.
