HMRC client interface
Permalink Closed

Good morning all

When you access your clients SA online screen you may find some have a complete change of format.

They look similar to the personal tax account pages.

HMRC have started making changes to the SA online interface and the change will cover approx 2 weeks.

I'm sure they must have announced it somewhere but I must have missed it.

Thanks Jay, I did read somewhere they were changing it but I wasnt sure when, just had a look at my client list and noticed that one had changed, not had a chance to look at it in great detail or how many of my clients have changed as on a train but will look at it later. Cheers

Thanks for the heads up though Jay.

I'd not seen any info on this but just had a look and mine hasn't been updated yet.

I think approx. 10% of my clients have been updated.

When I spoke to HMRC they said possibly 2 weeks to complete.

Not sure why the changes are being made, I think the current system is easier and quicker to manage.

Might have been better to work on the MTD Agents Accounts .

I don't know what they are doing about this. I have written most of the interfaces into the Self-Assessment API, but I have been working on other things more recently and haven't tried to keep up to speed. I know that HMRCs strategy is to encourage people to make use of MTD software so that most of the communications go through APIs.

They will probably write their own GUI to link to the APIs so that it is easier to maintain the systems.

There are, in fact, two sets of APIs that link to income tax information. One set sends the figures for Self Assessment (on a quarterly basis) the other set gets information that can be used to populate self-assessment.

If people might find it helpful I could try seeing if I could nudge HMRC to give me production credentials for the looking up API (which should be easy to get). Self Assessment will be a bit more work. I had held back for various reasons, but now I have done Domestic Reverse charge for the cloud cashbook I might attack Self Assessment in the round.

At the moment I have production credentials for VAT and the Agents API (and Hello).

These are the specifications for the PAYE api
developer.service.hmrc.gov.uk/api-documentation/docs/api/service/individuals-paye/1.0

and the NI api
developer.service.hmrc.gov.uk/api-documentation/docs/api/service/national-insurance/1.1

These are really easy to write and I did them last year, but I haven't tried to progress it with HMRC.

Just had a proper look now and 7 out of 36 of mine have changed over so far but looking at the new layout it still seems to have all the same information as before which is all that matters, it just looks different and I hate change no.gif

I think John has gave an explanation above as to why HMRC are doing it but in all honesty most of it has gone over my head (which is not hard to do) biggrinbiggrin

Mine too.

HMRC just causing problems for agents - yet again! Albeit perhaps on a temporary basis.    Although most industries implementing change sort the mess out in the background before launch so that 'customers' are not impacted.

I have approached one of my contacts at HMRC to see if I can get the list of proposed changes here and if I get it then I will tell you what is going to happen in the future.

I have decided after my holiday to give Self Assessment and Income Tax a hammering development wise. With a bit of luck I should get production credentials and be able to collate this information in a useful manner.

Ah, I didn't realise Jay meant after clicking on a client's name. I just clicked on self assessment and it looked the same lol. 7 of mine have changed as well.

A good suggestion on here - try the online chat, although clearly HMRC will know about this bu now from this lot and dont give a damn ( I will hazard a guess there is NOTHING on their service availability pages)

I am able to log on to my clients PAYE now, but some are not showing payments made etc.
I guess its a case of waiting (if possible) .

Best wishes
