Looking at a self assessment and wondering how to do this. First year in S/A due to addition of sole trader income.
Tax code/PA higher than standard allowance....this due to additions relating to job related allowances eg uniform cleaning allowances/prof subs.
Tax deducted on P60 but there appears to be a small shortfall despite the correct tax code showing on it (can only presume at this point this is poss due to wrong tax code being used until later in year).
Software shows tax calculation with only standard personal allowance of £11850 taken off, so actually showing tax owed as even higher. Need this to show actual tax owed obviously.
How/where to adjust tax return to take into account the 'additions' ie the additional allowances?
I am using taxfiler.
If not aware of taxfiler, please advise what box on tax return?
Thanks
Im seriously losing the plot!!

OK - fresh eyes after posting at 9.58....I hadnt included the allowance items as expenses in the employment pages, so this resolves part of it.
Can I ask someone to run a couple of numbers via whatever tax return software they are using? Literally just pay from employment, tax taken off (per P60 and the allwances) - I am still getting tax owed, whether done manually or via taxfiler, yet agent line states nothing is o/s from the employment!!!!!
PM me please. Or let me know on here and if you have PMs allowed I can PM you.
THANKS

Thank you John for running this scenario through your software.....and proving Im not going completely mad.
Now I just have the issue of HMRC stating that the payroll is correct, when its obvious they didnt take enough tax under PAYE. Small amount but an issue. Any ideas how to sort?
Might start a new thread
