Hi, and thankyou for your fabulous forum.
I am at present studying the AAT advanced diploma, have previously worked using sage, but now using or trying to... xero.
Would I need to be fully qualified to advertise to undertake work, and complete accounts (not limited companies).
I have paid for MLS.

Hi Tracey and welcome to the forum
There is no legal requirement to be fully qualified to enable you to undertake work, although you may want to check if the AAT allow you to while studying you certainly can not use their name in any advertising.
You will need MLR which you say you have and also will need to register with the ICO, PII is not a legal requirement either but most definitely a good idea to have it in place.
Are you presently working in Accounts and if so in what capacity?
Good luck

Hi Artois, thankyou so much for your reply.
I have previously worked in offices for small companies doing accounts. Had a few years off due to ill health. Wanting to get my brain matter back.
Can ask what ICO, P11 are.
My husband has a Ltd company but I have an accountant who is chartered submit the returns for us, so any work I do can run through that company.

ICO-information commissioners office. You need to register. Also look up the rules around privacy as you will need to adhere to them (a growing issue). See their website.
PII-professional indemnity insurance. You need to get.
Lots more advice on here as this question is asked regularly and the subject pretty much done to death. Plus also have a look at the sticky threads.
Running through existing limited probably an extremely bad idea. Ask your Accountant for specific advise there as he/she will know your circumstances.
Never mention the 'AAT ' in anything unless you have their practice certificate.
Why not wait and the get the AATQB licence once you have finished level 3, given then you will have access to support for lots of thing, access to checklists, legal documents for clients etc rather than going it completely alone.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
