Not normally one to get angry, but just replied to a thread on aweb regarding average pay on furlough.
It previously said to either take the average pay for 19/20 or February 2019, whichever was the highest. I responded as such to a poster (who's comments I value) after he said it was to be recalculated every month..
If youve been employed (or engaged by an employment business in the case of agency workers) for a full year, employers will claim for the higher of either:
the amount you earned in the same month last year
an average of your monthly earnings from the last year
If youve been employed for less than a year, employers will claim for an average of your monthly earnings since you started work. The same arrangements apply if your monthly pay varies such as if you are on a zero-hour contract.
Ive not read it yet (went on there once today with a 3 liner, no time to even read it, let alone partake today).
But I know the poster you mean. I have a lot of respect for that poster too, although a smidgen of a warning, he is from almost the there or thereabouts school. Dont get me wrong, I think he is better than your average there or thereabouts bod, but will sail close to the wind because he has so much experience that when it comes to fight off the bods from HM, he can do it like swatting a fly off, if that makes sense. But he is on the ball.
But loads off folk over there are guessing.
But yes in the is case and indeed other.......its changing, constantly, without any kind of notifications in mnay cases....I just accidently spotted one today on the rates clauses - they said they changed para17, but actually part quoted para 18 (left hand, right hand).....I only discovered it because I had lost the council's pdf instructions in my million open tabs, but you make a decision based on one day and implement something and then be damned!
On the other Q by the way, caveat it with that could change although Im sticking with the ICAEW for my info gathering/help.
I should start caveating EVERYTHING

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
The way that the rules keep changing reminds me very much of Carter Pewterschmidt at the orphanage.
The promise is there but you can't actually get at it!
