1) HMRC has advised that agents should not use client credentials to apply for grants in behalf of clients and that doing so may trigger HMRC fraud checks and delay payment. Using client credentials is, in most circumstances, a breach of Professional Conduct in Relation to Tax (PCRT).
There has been comment that the online claim will not be the usual GG. Im not so sure about that - seems bonkers when HMRC have been desperately trying to get all folk onto a tax account of one sort or another for the last couple of years.
2) HMRC is developing an alternative service for the digitally excluded but details are awaited - update is this is to be a phone claim (from ICAEW who HMRC are talking to, unlike the rest of the prof bodies)

It will be via gg, presumably via the BTA. Client has just phoned me saying that that he had checked he was eligible and that it then said he could ask his accountant to do the claim. I said that I couldn't but he was pretty insistent that's what it said. I've checked for him myself and, strangely, I couldn't find that little gem, (think he's got confused where it says similar to what Doug said in his thread, and he's mis-interpreted it) but went through the process with him and it sets up a gateway instantly. I've told him to make a note of all the details and log in on the 13th.
