Just a FYI regarding the TLS licence checking thing that has some in the Sage community so wound up at the moment. The main gist is that the Sage 50 software will stop functioning by October unless the user moves to Sage's subscription model. The matter has been very poorly handled by Sage and there has been a lot of concern about the implications for historic data.

Fear not, neither the ODBC drivers nor the Sage 50 Report Designer (run as an independent program) will be affected by the forthcoming change (neither 'phone home' to check the licence), so full reporting access to historic data should be maintained no matter what accounting software the client chooses moving forward.

P.S. It turns out that VAT reports and EC Sales list reports work a little bit differently to others with much of the data being stored in XML files instead of the normal database tables that are accessed via ODBC. We're working on a free utility that will allow full historic reporting reporting in these areas too so that everything should be covered.

Hi Ian

Very useful to see that you're working on a free utility for the access of historical VAT and EC Sales reporting.

We'd be interested to learn more.

Take care,

We've finished work on the VAT reporting tool. Please feel free to request a copy if you'd like to have a look.
