I’m a new book-keeper, and I was thinking about focusing on doing the books for small sole traders until I get the hang of the whole business thing. Any thoughts? Thanks! Jenny
I think that it is okay to focus on one type of business if there are enough looking for a book-keeper where you live. The problem is finding just that type of business i.e. would you discount a small partnership business, or one man band limited company? If you have the required book-keeping training, it should not matter if the business is a limited company, sole trader or partnership. The principles of book-keeping are the same. Man66
Remeber Jenny, if you take on a client and have any queries about book-keeping principles, you can always ask questions at the general book-keeping forum.
I was thinking the same thing -- seems like in the beginning you want to try to cast the widest net possible for clients. I would not necessarily limit myself in the beginning. You can do that when you can no longer keep up with your new clients pouring in!
