Hi to all users. Just want to say great forum, can really see this being the 'only' forum for book-keepers in the future!
I'm dead keen to start my own book-keeping business as I have previous accounts experience. I intend to take a book-keeping course either through Bookcert, IAB or Sage course etc. Just want to know if this would be allowable as a tax deductable expense on a tax return? I will be keen to recoup as much money as possible on starting up!
Many thanks, hope I will be able to contribute to this forum as I get more experience. Keep up the good work!
I had the same question when I was starting up. I spoke to an accountant friend who said that I would only be able to claim the cost of a book-keeping course as a tax deductible expense, if I set-up a limited company prior to purchasing the course i.e. the director and ltd co are two separate entitys and thus both the co and dir benefit from it. However, as I was intending to trade as a sole trader I couldn't. Oh well worth a try!
