I've been running my bookkeeping business for approx 2 years and so far have been doing all the books either manually or using excel. One of my clients accountants suggested I switch to a computerised package to save time and increase accuracy.
He said Sage Line 50 was very good, but I've looked into the price, and to convert all my clients to Sage (43 at current count) would cost over £1200 for the correct package. I've also heard that Sage is quite hard to use and therefore I would also need to add in training fees etc.
Can anyone suggest a cheaper but equal alternative to Sage?
I currently use VT Transaction, which I believe you can download for free (limited features though) from their website (just google VT Transaction). I paid for the upgrade which lets me do year end accounts as well. Have dabbled with Quickbooks in the past, but again the price was high and it wasn't that user friendly.
I'm not an book-keeper but I do run my own business. I actually use a program called Zebra. It's quite basic but it's cheap and chearful and suits my needs. Don't know if you can use for more than one business though, which I guess you need it to. Worth checking out.
