Called up for Jury service
Permalink Closed

I've been called up for jury service, which I've been told will last for around 2 weeks.  I run my own book-keeping business, and I would like to know whether it is possible to claim for loss of earnings, as I will not be able to do any books whilst on service.

Would welcome any advice.

Many thanks

Jude

Hello Jude

I was in the same boat a few months ago. I was able to claim a daily allowance for loss of earnings over the period of my jury service, together with a daily allowance for subsistence and travel costs. I think the rates may vary from court to court, but you can get more information by going to
www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk.

Have fun!

Fay
