BOOKCERT BUSINESS KIT

Hi Everyone.

I'm new to this forum and very glad to have found a forum which provides a reliable source of information for book-keepers.

I'm looking for a change of career, looking to start a business from home with flexibility and lifestyle choice, and book-keeping seems a good choice for me, as I was once employed with the Inland Revenue.

I've looked at several packages leading to IAB or other qualification, however Bookcert claim to be able to give you a whole business package within 6 - 8 weeks, and without taking exams! So how are book-keepers trained with Bookcert able to obtain clients without the recognised qualifications?  Have any of you used this package?  And how successful were you at obtaining clients?

I'd like to put these questions to a member of the Book cert team by 'phone or e.mail but it seems that they are not contactable by either judging by my efforts!

Can anyone help please?

Regards, Lynnee

Hi Lynnee,

I bought the Bookcert Business Kit last year, and am pleased to say I am now operating my own book-keeping service! What I liked about the Kit was that it concentrated on book-keeping from the prospective of doing the books for other people, and assumed those clients people would be the small business owner. It also gives you very detailed explanations of how to set up the books from scratch, and exactly how to file and summarise information.

Like setting up any business it was hard work and required determination. Thankfully the Kit includes a lot of info on how to obtain clients (which is pretty important! smile).

Hope this helps,

John

Hello John,

Your comments certainly encouraged me..I'm awaiting delivery of my kit so I'm quite excited about receiving it and working towards starting my own business.

Just like to ask you a question John..did you have any formal bookkeeping qualifications or experience before you received the kit?

Hi Robbie,

I previously worked in IT, and my only previous book-keeping experience was completing my expense form each month!smile

As I mentioned I found the Kit comprehensive, but if I had any questions I also found the Bookcert Mentoring Team really helpful and knowledgeable too. Not having worked in book-keeping before, I found it comforting to know I had the team to fall back on to ask for advice.

Best of luck with your own business, I'm sure it will be a great success.

John
