We have studied for nearly a year and are now ready to establish our business. We were looking for some advice on acquiring those first few valuable clients. So far we have registered with yell.com free listing, posted flyers to accountants and small businesses and our advert will be in the local paper tomorrow.
Although the advertising methods you identified will help get your name known, don't overlook your close network of family and friends. Often it is easiest to target these people first as potential clients, i.e. do you know anyone who runs their own business and does their own books? This group of people is often the ideal starting place.
Thanks Guy, we are getting there a little bit at a time. Do you think we should contact other bookkeepers in the area? We are in Dumfries & Galloway and Cumbria. Also, has anyone got any more advice for us?
