Regstering as Self-employed

I am just about to start my own bookkeeping business, on a part-time basis at first. Can anyone tell me if I still need to register as self-employed even though I am employed and paying tax via PAYE.confused

Yes you still need to register with HMRC when you begin trading. You have 3 months within which to register if not you face a fine.

Hi, I agree with the last post but it also depends on how many clients you have.  I currently ownly do the books for one small limited company, HMRC were happy for me to have my tax code adjusted for amounts (we're only talking about £800pa)
