I have just completed my ICB computerised course and passed with flying colours, I want to work from home due to child care. I have obtained my practising certificate and got my insurance, so I am ready. Got my business cards sorted and I have been putting flyers in shops etc. So far no takers, I still work part time in another employment until I can get my own business up and running.
What I was wondering is, I have been advised by my course tutors that some accountancy firms are willing to put book keeping work your way, ie the receipt sorting and basic book keeping jobs then the accountant takes over and finishes the job, is this reliable info that I have been given? don't really fancy calling some accountancy firms up only to look a bit silly when they tell me no they don't do this.
Hi Shellie, Congratulations on Qualifying... Hope your Business grows and you do well! Yes your Tutors are correct, some Accountants do outsource their Clients Book-Keeping and they keep the more lucrative tasks. So i would say go for it and approach some Accountants, I think the ICB does have a Template Letter for prospecting Accountancy Firms?? I am not sure as I am IAB Anyways once again congratulations and good luck!! Byeeee....

Hi there. I qualified 6 weeks ago, rang and wrote to all the accountants in a 5 mile radius, and have been lucky enough to find one brave enough to give work to a newly qualified person with kids! If you want I can let you have a copy of the letter I sent.
Hi there. Please could I have a copy of the letter aswell- i've been asking around for 2 months now and no one seems interested in passing out any work. I'm in the same boat as Shellie- I can't be employed due to childcare so thought i'd go down the route of being self-employed in book-keeping and accounts but so far i've had no luck with any work. Pleaseeeeee.
I will send pass out a letter that I got from the ICB and I have had a few replies, I sent out 9 letters to accountants and got 3 replies, so I will pm anyone who would like the template, I have already had one pm and I will reply to that in the morning.
Shellie, If you don't mind can I have a copy of the letter, please. As I'm new to this forum and planning to work from home. Don't know where to start from.
I am in the same boat as yourself, I tried sending out a letter but to no avail, Can I get a copy of your letter and hope it works better than mine. Ive put out posters and lm having to get new business cards printed as Ive run out so much for 'word of mouth' but im still hopeful- Ive been set up for 3 months with little work. But i keep plugging what i do incase it hits the right person.
I am new to the forum and have just set up on my own. Would it be possible to have a copy of the letter to send to accountants. I am advertising locally as much as I can, but I think sending a letter is a really good idea.
I was wondering if i could ask for a copy of the letter too. Ive recently started my bookkeeping business and am in the process of advertising. I havent approached any firms yet but thats next on my action plan, so a copy of the letter might be what i just need.
