I was wondering if anybody could offer some advice please?
I am ACCA qualified but am thinking about also joining the Institute of Chartered Bookkeepers. i want to do this as I have just started my own business but am primarily offering bookkeeping services as I do not yet have a practice certificate under ACCA and am very limited as to what I can do. I believe that joining the ICB would be a good move.
i'm a little confused as to the different types of membership though. I believe they offer associate membership where you are only allowed to do work for sole traders or full membership where you can do work for Ltd companies and that they decide what level of membership you will have.
Am I going to be shooting myself in the foot if I join and they only offer me associate membership, especially as I've already got a Ltd co client?
The different types of membership, depends on your qualifications if you have done all your exams with the ICB they will offer other levels of membership. If you have not done your exams etc with the ICB they are still willing to take any qualifications you have into consideration, only if they are less than 2 years old I believe.
