Setting up in Lanarkshire
Permalink Closed

I am thinking about setting up a bookkeeping business in the new year and was looking to find someone else who was also panning to do the same. I think one of the scariest parts about setting up is the thought that you're on your own.

Either someone who wants someone to talk to about ideas, plans, things that work, don't work etc. or ideally someone who would like to join up as a partner and do this together. I am based in Motherwell so really looking for someone close by to team up with.

This for me would be part time at first and working from home, but hope to build up enough business in time to go full time.

About me - I am currently working as an accountant and have done for over 10 years, covering various roles and in various businessess. I have during this time been a senior accountant for a national service company, a finance manager of a construction company and I am currently working in a large legal firm.

Hi
Im in the same boat as you, am just starting to set up my bookkeeping business, and yeh ur right it is scary, but there is alot of support (this forum) and alot of people in the same boat.  I guess once you start getting your clients in, itl build your confidence, although it seems u have alot of experience  having worked as an accountant for 10 years.

im not looking to set up in partnership as im in lancashire, but its always good to have links.

All the best smile

Firstly I wish you all the best in your new venture.

You're more than welcome to bounce thoughts and ideas around with me if you like. Email - john.gesch@accountantscircle.co.uk

A couple of us here do this confidentially with both bookkeepers and accountants.  It gives us an idea of what needs people might have, what people think about plus we can provide some insight from experiences of our own and others.
