Unwanted Sage Software
Permalink Closed

Hi

I have Sage 50 Accounts 2009 Client Manager and it's too much for my needs (6 user, 25 clients).

I've only had it for a few months and it is as good as new. Problem is that I believe I am not supposed to sell it and as it cost me over £650 I'm regretting getting it. The credit crunch has hit hard.

Does anybody know what to do in this situation? I was going to call Sage but thought I would check here first. Ideally I would like to sell it on but don't want to break any rules.

Thanks

As far as I'm aware there's nothing to stop you selling the software on together with the licence. However Sage would probably not offer support to the new buyer should anything go wrong with the software.

You may be able to sell it on eBay or somewhere similar if the price is competitive, as I imagine most experienced Sage book-keepers and accountants most likely wouldn't need to use the support anyway. They may be willing to take a punt if the price is tempting enough!

Purple

in most cases you pay for the right to use software, you do not own it, and hence can't sell it.

The Sage 50 2008 licence agreement says
the licence is non-transferable. ...You may not sell the Licence or Software
I have heard of cases where people have approached Sage and they have given the OK to transfer the licence.
