I need to open a business bank account for my bookkeeping business. Can anyone advise on the best bank accounts/rates/charges? that are available at present.
I would search for one that is offering free banking for business start ups. Some banks are offering between 12 and 18 months free banking. Im with Lloyds TSB, but I am sure all high street banks will have similar packages.
Thank you Julie for your prompt response. I will look at the TSB website and other banks as well. It's good to get first hand experience from others as this is a first for me.
I just went with the Natwest and they are offering 2 years free banking. Not only that but I was really impressed with the service that they have offered so far and opening up a business bank account was really easy
I've not much new to add to what the others have said on which bank... except in the UK we use HSBC and been happy enough too. I think free banking was 18 months but not sure... I can say no one here likes paying bank fees!
You'll have to look for what is convenient and important for you - branch location, online banking and functionality, fees - how much is it on how you bank etc.
Another thing that may be worth considering is to meet with a couple of the branch/business managers and say you are looking for a bank, and one you might be able to refer clients to. See if they have a rewards scheme (HSBC offers £50 I think), and also if they might be able open to referring their new business to you.
