Hi everyone,

I am about to take over the bookkeeping of two companies from their current bookkeeper. Is there anything in particular I need to know and what should I be asking? Thanks.

I did this myself a few weeks ago and it has been a bit problematic in that there were transactions on the bank statements that i could not identify.

From my experience of the last few weeks i would suggest

1. get the telephone number of the previous bookkeeper!!

2. make sure you have all the bank statements, cheque books/journals, details of bank lodgements, invoices etc... all the usual information

3. work you're way systematically through the bank statements

4. get then telephone number of the previous bookkeeper - oh, i already mentioned that, dont be afraid to call and ask questions

Good luck.
