Checking a companies status

Hi All,

I recently sent out some letters to accountants and have received some replies, mainly `we will keep your details on file`, which is great. 

I have received a phone call this evening from an accountant wanting a copy of my CV, Practicing Cert, PI Insurance and the names/contact details of two referees, again OK, I assume this is how some accountants operate ie, checking you out. 

But.....  I normally check any enquiries out myself,  forearmed is forwarned sort of thing !   I usually look to see what listings they have in the phone books, websites etc.,  Now these  accountants are a  limited company but  I cannot find them on Companies House, where else could I try ?   

Any help would be well, very helpfull  !!

Hi Julie,

As far as I know if a company is limited then you can find them on Companies House on their webcheck service as I use this at work when credit checking companies.

Hi Julie,

Thanks for that, this is what I thought. This company has their name down as a limited company, even when I asked him to give me his full name, company name and address details so I may post off the relevent info he has asked for, he stated that it was limited.

But I cannot find them on Companies House ! very strange.

When I meet him, I`ll have to bring this up.

Yes that is strange unless he is registered under a different company name, I do come across that sometimes.
