Sage Line 50 Accountant Version 2007

Hi all,
Not sure if anyone has come across this before but our installation of Sage has gone somewhat "caput".
When we open up a client file and proceed to suppliers or customers and double click on a particular customer or supplier so as to view the activity and defaults etc, the system just closes down which the requires a restart and the usual error checking etc.
Don't have sage cover but called sage to see if this a known issue but alas not! They said that they would probably be able to sort this out but had to take the s/cover, which we were thinking about anyway so as to get the free upgrades etc.
The helpdesk person, took me through uninstalling the .NET Framework files and reinstalling them along with the Sage Program but this didn't rectify the issue. Funnily enough, earlier I had upgraded Internet Explorer to IE8 and now I wonder if this has anything to do with it. Also loaded Sage onto another Computer and all is OK so the file is not corrupt and I fear that the Software on my laptop may be
Has anyone else on this forum come across this and can maybe offer a fix.
Any contributions would be gratefully received.
Many thanks
Brucie
