Advice please for a credit controller
Permalink Closed

I have been in finance for the best part of 25 years and have passed both the Banking and Credit Management professional qualifications.

I have now started out on my own as a credit controller and, over time, am looking to add further strings to my bow. Bookkeeping work is one such option

As someone therefore who is very experienced in all things financial but has never done any formal bookkeeping qualification where would you guys and gals suggest I start?

From what I can see there are no exemptions to the ICB Level I exam so I would need to take this and then Level II Manual and Computerised.

Is reading past papers and then going for the exams going to work in Level I, II or both assuming I have some financial background or will I need to go to evening classes or distance learning?

Hi Geoff

I asked very similar questions last week and received some good advice. This advice has sent me down a different road than original thought.

If you take a look at recent threads, 'please help - where do I start' and please help - starting up' on 29th June you will see the answers to these questions.

I also, thought about training with ICB and changed my mind after reading the thread ' what would you do' on June 30th, this is definately worth a read.

Try to take the time to read back on past threads, there are many on starting up, although remember that recent threads may have an impact on old answers.

Hope this helps, good luck

Gerry
