I'm sure someone told me you can only have one copy of Sage loaded per computer because they overwrite each other. Can anyone tell me if this is true please. Could my customer have Sage 50 and Sage Instant on the same machine?
I know it seems a daft question - my client already has Sage Instant and has decided to put his other 3 business's accounts onto Sage and wondered if he could keep instant and buy Sage 50 with 3 licences instead of 4.
We have a solution - we would install Sage under your company account in Cloud Nine and it can be delivered to any computer, anywhere. You could run multiple versions of Sage simultaneously on your computer this way. Take a look around our site, if you're interested fill in the trial request and I can get you setup so you can have a play with it.
I have 2 versions of SAGE instants on my machine, one is V12 and one is V10, its along story but the V10 is for a client that I do once a year. Anyway don't know if it will work with Sage 50 and instants but a friend of mine who is a computer boff talked me through via the phone, installing one of them as custom install and renaming it something different other than SAGE so that way the PC dosen't pick up on it as the same type of programme running.
It works fine but was recommended not to have them both open together, which I don't. The other thing to do it get Sage 50 say fro 10 companies like preevioulsy suggested. Look at Quickbooks it easier to use than SAGE and I have the PRO 2008 (more upto date version now) but I can have 99 clients on there and it only cost me £280 (I think) from Amazon. The principles are the same as SAge.
They normally recommend express install when installing the disc but if you go to custom install it lets you rename the programme.
If we're going back to the debate over cloud computing against having the software on your own computer probably best to look at earlier posting on this issue on both this site and accountingweb in order to make an informed decision.
I'm in the camp of there's no way on this earth that I'm going to be dependant upon / at the mercy of (delete as appropriate) a third party to be able to be access my clients data.
If you want to set up different versions of software on your machine you could take a look at disk partitioning software and run the different versions from different virtual drives on your machine.... Or just buy another machine! They seem to be giving them away with cornflakes nowadays and it's a justifiable expense (and very, very sensible) to have a backup machine.
