I have just taken on a new client who uses MYOB - her previous accountant used version 16 and she has the MYOB Accounting Plus 2008 installation CD version 17. Her accountant has informed us that he cannot access the file - no error message comes up, it just simply shuts down - any suggestions

having a guess, the accountant is using version 16 and your client is using version 17, therefore the accountant cannot access the data as his system is older and not able to view newer files.
Yes, I would check which version of MYOB the new accountant is using and that their licence is up to date. For example, if they have MYOB accounting they will not be able to open your clients MYOB Accounting Plus file.
Not sure what the problem was, but I think it may be along the lines that both my client and her accountant use MACs, but the MYOB is a PC version - Duh!!!
