You've obviously missed the caution that I give to almost all hopefuls that join the site that training coes with no guarantee's.
I've argued with supervisory bodies on here about it.
I've argued with training companies about it.
There are three training companies that I have a lot of time and respect for (Training Link, Ideal and Premier) who all tell people what they are getting into and advise that there is the potential that one might spend more on training than one ever makes back from bookkeeping.
That said, I also don't want to burst anyone's balloons and whilst I offer caution no matter whether one comes out of it with a job or self employed people are better off for their training in finance which will help them no matter what they actually end up doing.
As for this topic, the thread that you've picked up on is over three years old.
Note that anyone working within this business must adhere to the principles of mutual respect so to use the phrase "know it alls" is not really an acceptable approach to those who for the most part have been through the qualifications and are running successful practices.
If you are looking for employment you've taken the wrong qualification. To find employment people are looking for fully qualified AAT or PQ's.
ICB and IAB are great qualifications for going self employed as a bookkeeper but just do a search of the Reed site to see how many employers are asking for those qualifications.
Fingers crossed in years to come attitudes of employers will change but at the moment there are many experienced unemployed accountants out there (another 300 from KPMG joining their ranks only last week) so employers have their pick of better than they need for les than they would be willing to pay.
Welcome to the forum, please be respectful to other members when posting as refering to people as "know it all's" will not be accepted.
Shaun.

As long as the know-it-all's carry on offering their own time, free advice and warm welcomes i think this site will only prosper Shaun. I only realised this thread was that old after getting halfway through reading and noticing how youthful your avatar looked, made me check the dates lol.
I have had the privilege to chat to quite a few Bookkeepers, along my travels thus far, newly qualified, QBE, and qualified and experienced and i must say that all that i have met have been the nicest bunch of competent folks i could have encountered. This puts the few who leave a mess to be cleaned by others a very small percentage in my world, you could say 0% actually.
I have had interviews for jobs i didn't get on the one hand yet been told by 2 (separate interviews) Accountants that i could contact them anytime regarding any study and accounting related questions i may have/need help with (i drop an email to one of them now and then updating my progress, it was a place i would really like to have a crack at working and who knows? keeping in touch may help.)
P.S. why haven't you changed your avatar to suit the new Dallas? is it something to do with J.R. looking like a freshly wrung out dishcloth?

lol.
Well prompted Neil, time for a change methinks.
Actually, this one I think that I should put it against some other peoples posts!
