Wassim from Sage Customer services phoned me this morning to tell me that Sage had increased the price of their Compliance Starter Pack by £850!!

Is this worst customer service call ever?  no

Apparently bookkeepers/accountants buy the compliance starter package but it is too complicated to install so frequently doesn't work properly, and they end up sending it back.

So how do Sage resolve this?  Better instructions?  Better telephone support?  Better integrated software?  Of course not, this is Sage we are talking about.  They decide to charge an extra £850 (plus vat) and make it mandatory that a Sage engineer installs it for us.

£850!!!  I guess that engineer will be coming to stay for the week?  No?  Just a morning?  Don't be silly.  I wouldn't pay £850 for a mornings work.  I'm a bookkeeper not a millionaire.

I really want this product, but they just keep pushing it outside of my price range.

I bet Sage receive more recommendation for their products such as Line 50 and Payroll from us bookkeepers than anywhere else.  So thanks Sage for slapping us in the face once again.

Andrea

May be a silly question but what is the compliance starter pack?

Hi Jane,

You know some accountants use Iris, or Viztopia (CCH) for their accounts production, the Sage Compliance Pack is similar.

It includes a Practice Solutiion, Accounts Production, Personal Tax, Business Tax and Corporation Tax.

I want it, but I don't want to pay Sage's extortionate fees!
