hi all,

just hoping someone could give me some advice on what to do next please?

i have taken and passed level 1 manual/ practical bookkeeping, i have passed my level 2 mock exam and just waiting to take level 2 actual exam in feb, i have now finished my course and not to sure on what to do next.

i was hoping to set up from home, but i'm keeping my options open, so i'm just wondering on what you would suggest would be the next step, do i go on to do the the level 3 diploma? or skip that and do computerised? or both?

any suggestions will be greatfully appreciated so i know all my options, (and obviously the cost!!!)

thanks all

If you're doing the level II manual, you may aswell do the level III to go with it. It all depends on what you want to do with your quals?

You can do levels II and III comp now if you wish whilst you wait to take the exam in Feb, if you feel up to it, that is, just order the mock exams and see how you go...

There is a cost to all this, so go at your own pace....

Usually the manual side is worth taking on to Level III.....the computerised side is the cherry on the cake I suppose. There are a number of colleges that offer Level III manual and the computerised course at Levels II and III. In here we put quite a few people through such courses and we use IDEAL Schools....their details are available through the ICB website where you can compare and contrast prices etc. They are reasonably priced, helpful and everyone here has done well in their exams.....no complaints.

Good luck with it all.

don't forget that you will have to do BOTH manual & comp exams to get (or keep) AICB or MICB by the end of next year.

hi all
thanks for replys, i was thinking to do level 3 manual, but wasnt sure whether doing the computerised version was worth it or not, (mainly as from what i gather comp levels 1 & 2 are pretty much same as manual)
obviously at this level with my qualifications, i can do basic bookkeeping upto and including preparation of final acc's, would like to use my qualifications as best as i can, and as there are more courses i can do to gain more qualifications, think i would like to eventually be a qualified bookkeeper/ accountant, to be able to do more.
brewsie - at mo i have recently renewed my membership still at student level, as didnt want to pay to become affiliate member, as once passed level 2 in feb/march next year will be paying to become assosiate member anyway.
lastly, i've been doing my course through the home learning college and havent really had any problems, think i will check out other providers though, as i'm still paying for the course i've just finished and as i'm not currently working cant really afford to be paying out too much.
thanks again all

Most useful next step would be to get some work experience in the field.

Hi,

There is an accountancy firm in London which does a three day training course in Sage 50, and once you complete the course you get a certificate.

They also offer voluntary work experience at their practice for those seeking to enhance CV's.

The classes are full every month, and cost £280 aprox

However, if you don't live nearby, hotel will cost £30 per night plus transport.

Need more info, let me know.

Sean
