Some 13 years ago (was it really that long?!) I took and passed the AAT quatlifications to become an Accounting Technican. Time passed by, and after the birth of our daughter and a move to the West Country, we are now seriously looking at getting out to Australia to live. The Visa will be via my husbands work, but I would dearly like to do out there what I do in the UK - run my own bookkeeping business. I've looked into converting the AAT qualification to an Australian equivilant, and as its NVQ Level 4, it can be converted. However - and here is the BIG problem (!) I cannot for the life of me find either the Certificates, or any paperwork confirming my passes. . I have just emailed the AAT to ask, very nicely if they may have anything that confirms it, but we are talking a long time ago here. To add to my problem, I never became a member with them, as at the time I intended to continue my qualifications, and take ACCA or CIMA. Therefore as a non member, from such a long time ago, what are the chances of them either helping me, or having data going back that far? I will be SO annoyed if all that work was for nothing !!
Anyone else out there lost certificates from years ago that they've being able to get copies of?
wish that I could help but fear that the best advice that I can offer from past experience of another institution is to give them a call rather than waiting in vain for an answer to an email that never comes.
Of course, the moment that you get someone at the AAT who helpfully digs out a copy of your certificate your originals will inexplicably just turn up!
Hope that your new life in Oz proves to be everything that you expect for it to be. Suspect that in the unlikely event of us getting another four years of Gordon the rest of us might just come and join you! (So get a few more tinnies in for the barby)
Keep us informed as to what transpires with the certificates,
Shaun.

Took your advice and spoke to the AAT. They were very helpful as it happens - Sent over my 'Statement of Account' listing all the papers I sat and when. If I want actual certificates, it will cost me £11 - but thats better than having to take them all again!
Oz may be a while off now - have just been told that our visa might take up to 3 YEARS to process. So 3 more UK winters to get through before year long sunshine
