Electronic payment of VAT
Permalink Closed

Hi

Has anyone registered a client yet for electronic submission of their VAT returns and selected Direct Debit as the payment method?

I have clients for whom we have been submitting electronically for some time, however, they have always paid by transfer, so I've not used the payment option of Direct Debit.

Just wondering what anyones experience with it is.

I am just going through the setting up on onlive VAT submission but was not intending on going down the DD route, as then you have little control over the payment. Would be interesting to hear peoples experiences in this regard.

We have clients who are wary about paying VAT by direct debit but we have set this up ourselves and are paying this way. I prefer it, as once you have completed your VAT return, it gives you longer to pay and is one less thing to worry about.

I was concerned the first time I used it that the money wouldn't be taken and we would be fined for late payment so I had all the print outs from the computer to say it would be taken by direct debit just in case. Everything went smoothly though and I have no complaints.

Kind regards

Zöe
