I am starting bookkeeping for a dental practice soon and am in the process of getting things set up.
I normally use sage for accounts and payroll however i am thinking of trying something new for a few reasons.
1. expand my experience of accounting software 2. sage can be expensive and the owner of the business has limited funds to spend on accounts packages
For payroll i was thinking of switching to 12pay - good reviews on here for this.
For accounts, i was thinking about quickbooks - however not sure if i should go for the pro or premier addition. i just need it for your basic recording of transactions, bank reconciliation etc and monthly production of P&L.
You might want to down load a free version of the Inuit website. It is a fully functioning watered down version but would give you the feel of Quickbooks.
It doesn't have all the functions of the full versions and there is a limit on the number of customers/ supplier accounts (20 in total). You can't customise the chart of accounts either. like I said though, it will give you the gist of QB
Quickbooks PRO is what I use, you don't need Premier thats really for the accountants. QB PRO is more than sufficient for a Dental Practice. And its cheaper than Premier. They do alllow you to do payroll for a fee per month, don't know how much it is though.
I think i'll go for the pro version, its got a monthly pay option too so should keep the client happy.
Not been around the site too much lately - we had a baby 8 month ago, our second, so lifes been hectic - shes still not sleeping through the night so am knackered.
