I have recently had my website designed and it went live about a week ago and yesterday Bill kindly notified me that he had spotted a typo error, Thanks Bill.
What I am asking for is does anyone else here have any comments about it. To be perfectly honest I am NOT looking for a pat on the back what I would really like is constructive criticism including pointing out typo's, because I think we all learn from mistakes not from congratulations.
Mark, it's a really well-designed website. That is, The actual design elements are all spot on, professional and easy on the eye.
The only thing I would look at is trying to reduce the amount of text to a minimum. In these days of limited attention span, getting the message across in the fewest words is vital.
That said, I'm basing my opinion on my impression, not the content and you may already have done the paring down.
Firstly it is a really good website, very professional. Just having a really quick look on the home page there was another typo. On the tabs across the top the 'g' is missing from Sage Training.
Great site though - I'm sure that it will attract plenty of interest.
top right hand corner you have put usefull links should be useful
but apart from that brill site! looks so professional, I like how you have managed to put alot of text, good for google ranking, but it is still easy to read and follow
The website looks really good, only comment I have is that your web address is way too long, and therefore your email address. Can you not get mgassociates.co.uk ? I know why you've added accountancy services but the whole thing just seem a bit mouthful and not easy to remember.
I know that you didn't want a pat on the back, but I have to say how great it looks and I like the info that you have on there. If I were looking for a bookkeeper and saw your website, I would definately get the impression that you were professional, knew what you were talking about and my business accounts would be in safe hands.
I think it looks very professional. I plan on setting up a website in a few months and will certainly be using this among others as inspiration. Well done.
An excellent website although I am inclined to agree with Neil relating to the amount of text. I think some more 'white' space would make it even easier on the eye. Perhaps you could list some of your services, for example, with the use of bullet points.
I also think it's a very professional website, I particularly like the news/information links.
However, I also think there's too much text, people have difficulty reading computer screens particularly when there's a lot of text. (I know from teaching computers for beginners). They seem to forget all about reading from left to right like reading a book or newspaper!
Congratulations, I think your website looks very comprehensive and professional and I hope it brings in lots of new clients for you.
I am in the process of having a website built and asked, when I have looked at others websites, why so much text is repeated. Apparently, the more you repeat your key words (I can't remember the correct terminology) the better it is for your website to come higher in the rankings.
Anyway, I've spotted one typo on the useful links page: P46 employee with form P45, the word 'out' has been left off.
I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to read my original post, view my website and make comments on here. Your views have been noted and I will review them over the coming weeks and make the necessary adjustments to my site.
He's at a client meeting in London for most of the day but should be back in the office late afternoon (depending on traffic!) Do you want me to get him to give you a call or can I help at all?
Nice website. My only comments as with those who have mentioned text. For me, I dont like to have to read too much text when I go around websites to get a feel for them. And I would also agree about the URL being very long - I always try to get the shortest I can, not always possible!
Just read a book 'Brilliant Copywriting' by Roger Horberry. He says that each webpage should contain less than 200 words and half that amount would be twice as good.
I am not trying to start an argument but I just wanted to show the other side which is the same side that I am on. About six months ago I attended a weekend marketing seminar run by Jonathan Jay and also talking at the seminar was Ed Rivis (web & email marketing specialist). Both were excellent speakers who both stated that in any marketing material including your web site that it is not the amount of words that is key it is whether the content is actually relevant and I believe that my content is, others may well disagree with my last comment but we all have our own opinions.
That's OK Mark - I have no problem with your argument. All experts have different theories - just think about those so-called experts on Bargain Hunt!!
