ICB level 2 Computerised bookkeeping
Permalink Closed

Hi everyone.
I've completed levels 1 and 2 manual bookkeeping with ICB and want to sit the Level 2 computerised. Apart from using sage and obviously it being computerised what are the differences between the exams?
Basically, I ask because I can't afford to go through a training provider for this. I alredy have Sage  ( although I have never used it yet) and I have just brought a Sage accounts book to teach me how to use it... Will this be sufficient as I already have knowledge from the level 2 manual.
If anyone could advise it would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks
AnneMarie

Hi AnneMarie

From my own experience, I'd say you should be fine. I'm still waiting for my Level II Computerised results but didn't find the exam too taxing after working through the BPP Sage book for Foundation AAT

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Foundation-Bookkeeping-Sage-Spreadsheets-Workbook/dp/0751746479/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1268298087&sr=8-1

and with Level II manual already done.

Best wishes
Neil

Hi Neil,
Thanks for replying. Have you had your result back yet? If so what did you get...
Can I also ask which exam did you find harder? The manual or computerised level 2? I've applied for the level 2 computerised and they are sending it out tomorrow but not sure what to expect...
Many Thanks
AnneMarie

Hi AnneMarie

I did get my results. I scored 98%.

The exam was easier to prepare for than the Manual, particularly because it's "open book" and you have 2 weeks to do it.

You'll breeze it. Chill. smile

Hi I am thinking of doing sage computerised accounts home learning, I just touch the surface with using it at work, is there anywhere I can get a mock exam to see what I need to brush up on before I go ahead.
thanks
Pam

Hi Neil,
Well I got my results through and I passed... But I Only got 87%, so I'm not very happy about that..I'm a bit of a perfectionist and all my other exams got distinctions for. I'm a bit dissapointed if I'm honest and I'm worried now about what I got wrong... as I thought I did ok, and if I make mistakes when I'm actually working, how will I know??
I know I should be pleased I passed, but I like to be 100% at whatever I'm doing... But in hindsight I suppose I could of revised more for it... and I didn't go through HLC or anyone else, I did self study for this.....
sorry for the ramble...
does anyone else feel like this when they get their results...
Annemarie

Congratulations on the pass though Anne Marie.

Not going through HLC may have been an advantage considering some of the other threads complaining about parts of the syllabus being tested that had not been covered.

When your working you will be less time pressured than an exam situation and for anything that you don't know you can go and look in the book.

Personally I often take study as learning the basics plus knowing which book to look in when you need more than the basics.

Accountancy is a huge and complex area. Nobody, even the ICAEW demi gods know it all... And if you think about it, for accountancy exams 50% is a pass mark!

You've done brill and you'll be fine.

All the best,

Shaun.

Thanks Shaun,
I feel a bit better now.. was just a bit dissapointed... My husband says I put too much pressure on myself... But I just want to do well at it thats all. You are right though... At least I passed and I am pleased about that... I'm moving onto manual level 3 soon so will take a bit longer with that I think...
I'm also waiting for my Self assessment result.. fingers crossed I've done ok on that..
I feel quite confident..
Cheers
AnneMarie
