Work for free-Decision!
Permalink Closed

Thanks to those who replied to my last post, I took on board all the advice.  I can't ignore my gut feeling that this was not the offer I was looking for.  If I felt the guy was genuine, I would give it a go but I am going to leave the offer (To work free for 3 days over 6 Months in return for practice experience)and keep looking for Book-keeping clients and part time work.
I contacted several Practices and went into four local Accountants offices and the only one I got a bad vibe from was this one!Typical,
Regards
Tony

Morning Tony,

ultimately the decisions are of course your own and regardless of short term loss or gain it's always best to go with your own gut instinct.

Wish I'd listened to mine before getting married the first time!

Thanks for keeping us all in the loop and good luck with finding the right position that's right for you.

kind regards,

Shaun.

You wouldnt mind so much if they offered you a lower salary would you? But to do it for free is just a bit of a joke. What did they say to you when you told them your decision? Bet they werent in the least bit surprised. Ive got practice experience, I do manual accounts up to trial balance, balance sheet and profit & loss accounts, (obviously, these are checked by our accountant) but, it would be good if they offered you at least something. Good luck!

Hi Tony,

did they clarify what the offer was in regards to what the training would have consisted of?

No Rob I haven't told them yet . He said to let him know this week but I just have a bad feeling that won't go away and I am far from desperate- just very keen!! I have applied for a couple of part time Book-Keeping jobs so I will go down that route for now.
Tony.
Will take your advice and E Mail him for a plan of my training but I trust my instincts.
