Hi, Does anyone know if ICB will let you re-take an exam even though you passed.. I passed my level 2 computerised with 87% and a pass, but I got a distinction with every other exam and its really annoying me that I didn;t do as well on this one, when I know I could of done... I'm going to ring them tuesday and ask but just wondered if anyone on here had any experience of this Thanks Anne-Marie
I really wouldn't bother. A pass is a pass and if you want to hone up any skills just join a different body where you will get to take the equivalent exams.
Nobody will ever ask what grades that you got and if you know where you dropped a few points then just hone up on that and save your money.
If you really wan to do more exams then why not do AAT or CAT or IAB or Sage certification? All of those would add to your resume rather than just doing a retake of something that you've already passed.

Hi Shaun, I suppose your right, I'm just a bit of a perfectionist and I hate getting less than the best!.. if that makes sense.. I have asked ICB to tell me what I lost marks on so I can make sure I don't make the same mistakes again, I am planning to do AAT but not till the end of the year. What is the SAGE certification? and what does this cover? ( obviously sage I know but is it all aspects of sage?) Also do you know how I would go about studying, can I do it myself or I have to go through a training supplier... Thanks in advance AnneMarie
Completely understand the perfectionist remark but in the greater scheme of things in this instance it really doesn't matter.
the only qualification where you need a training provider is AAT.
Sage has three levels of certification and does indeed cover the entire package.
Occasionally you can pick the Sage certification courses up really cheaply (under £30) on Amazon but then they whoosh back up to around £145.
What I do is place the courses in my basket, save them for later and when the price drops it comes up when you check you basket.
On the price side though, if you do AAT through Premier training you can get Sage certification as quite a cheap add on to the AAT course.
Hope that this helps,
Shaun.

I'm not a perfectionist. But in my ICB Manual Bookkeeping Level 1 I got 99% and it was a stupid thing I got wrong. I would rather have got 90% and still passed than the 99%. Can't explain the logic behind it.

Or wait and see what the new syllabus holds, they are doing a dedicated computerised accounts unit (using sage) they may fare aswell as the sage certification.
thank you everyone for your help... I think i'll do the amazon thing and maybe I can pick up a bargain.... but if not I'm doing AAT at the end of the year so maybe the computerised accounts unit will be in it by then.. but if its not hopefully I will have done them anyway from Amazon.. I'm not sure which provider I'm going to go through for AAT yet, still deciding.... but I suppose if its premier I won;t have to buy anything extra for sage... something else to think about. thanks everyone annemarie
