Working as a bookkeeper for many years - now want to set up and be my own boss.  I can produce TB - I have the knowledge to do payroll - only qualification in accounts is a GCSE - although i have just started ICB - can I operate as a book keeper now?

Yes, you dont actually need any official qualifications, neither do you need to be affiliated to any bookkeeping body. You must, in this case, register with HMRC for Money Laundering Regulations.

Otherwise, get advertising.

While you are right Kris about not needing to be affiliated with any bookkeeping body. As Lorraine is a (student) member of the ICB, there are restrictions which say you cannot practise without a Practice Licence and you can only get that after a passing as a minimum level II
