I think that this is probably a question for Shaun, although I'd be happy if anyone is able to answer. Do you have to disclose to ACCA if you become a member of another institute? I think that ACCAs can join IAB as a Fellow and use the title 'Registered Bookkeeper' as long as they keep within the the ACCA restrictions. I'm not sure how ACCA feel about using other titles though. I'll give them a ring tomorrow but just wondered if anyone already knew. Thanks
to the best of my knowledge so long as you are not using the ACCA letters or doing aqnything beyond what ACCA allows you to do (bookkeeping to trial balance, VAT and Payroll) then I don't think that the ACCA are concerned as to what other memberships you have.
I know people who are CIMA and ACCA (seems strange to me that anyone would want both) and there are no issues there so why would there be with ACCA and IAB.
If I continue to practice its certainly the route that I'm going once my current practice licence with the ICB expires.
If you do give the ACCA a call let us know what they say as it will effect the advice that gets given on here.

Thanks Shaun. It is interesting what you say about the use of the ACCA letters as I asked that very question. I was told that I could use the letters after my name but I couldn't put myself forward as offering accountancy advice. It all seems very confusing. I'll let you know what they say tomorrow. Regards
I have clarified the position with ACCA. So long as an ACCA member is only offering bookkeeping, VAT & Payroll, there's no problem with using the FIAB letters or 'Registered Bookkeeper'.
As with anything else though, I think it always better to seek clarification yourself as rules do change.
The answer is as I suspected that it would be but as you say, clarification is always good.
