amendment to tax return
Permalink Closed

Hi All,

A client has came to me to file their tax return, I have registered the authorisation code to do this now. But the problem is that the return for 08/09, shows the income to be lower than it should be.

What is the best way to make an adjustment to a previous years tax return?

Many Thanks.

Hi Lorraine,

Just write a letter to hmrc with corrected figures for whatever box numbers need changing. i would probably include a new tax comp too. You can make a repair either way within 12 months of the return going in. there will be some interest to pay as well as the additional tax liability.
