Hi Peter,

One of them that a few people on here rave about is VT Transactions, I've not used it myself yet, as I use Quickbooks and Sage.

I'm sure there are a few more as well, someone else maybe able to suggest a few more.

Hi Peter,

As Amanda states I think that your thinking of VT Transaction+ which is raved about on the site as a real alternative to the more expensive packages.

It is integrated with VT Cashbook which you can give to your clients for free and can be upgraded to VT Accounts which includes everything that you need to produce yearend accounts for your clients.

)

If you produce full year end accounts with notes to the accounts and in the various legal formats, then consider the Final Accounts version

Although cheaper than QB and Sage, it becomes even more cost effective as it's multi company, so no more licences everytime you get a new client

Anyone can call themselves an accountant, (it's not like solicitor or architect) even someone with no book-keeping experience let alone accounting experience. So it's no problem at all.

Yes you can change the text to anything you like. I will change it to Bookkeepers Report (if I use the report function)

ICB Regs don't allow me to call myself an Accountant (I wouldn't anyway) and I always make it absolutely clear that I'm not, and also that I cannot give tax advise. If a client wants tax advise, I point them in the direction of a tax professional

I did try a quickbooks demo sometime ago and it was so easy to use that someone who has never done bookkeeping will beable to use it.

With Quickbooks Pro, how many companies does it allow you to set up? I also noticed that the 2010 version has multicurrency. I think this was removed from the 2009 version of quickbooks.

Hi Louis,
QB Pro 2008 is the one that I have and you can have I think from memory upto 99 companies (wishful thinking)!

Alot cheaper than a SAGE package.

The 2010 version does have multi currency, which was taken away in the 2008 version, alot of people that use the multi currency then couldn't upgrade to the 2008 due to this problem.

I like it but its not everybodies cup of tea.

Thanks Amanda. I rang them up and they have confirmed quickbooks allows unlimited companies which is a real bonus.
