I'm looking for a fairly low cost multi company accounting software for a client who has 2 or 3 small companies. They just want a basic package that can do a P&L. Can anyone recommend one? I use QBs at home which is very good and I used to use Tas Books but I'm not sure if it's Multi Company. The client has Sage Instant Accounts but they cannot add anymore companies unless they upgrade and that's quite expensive.
Many thanks.

try VT Transaction+ (or VT Accounts as you seem to need to go through to accounts production). Its very good and is raved about on here. Note though that it's very different in look and feel to products such as SAGE and QB. Personally I feel that it has more of the spreadsheet about it.
You can download a free trial version to see if it fits with your needs and if at the end of the trial you feel that you like it then just purchase the very reasonably priced license to continue using it for as many companies as you like.
Have a play with the free trial and see if it feels right for you.
Have fun,
Shaun.
P.S. I am nothing at all to do with VT

Responses are not meant as a substitute for professional advice. Answers are intended as outline only the advice of a qualified professional with access to all relevant information should be sought before acting on any response given.
In fact even VT Cash Book produces a P&L and balance sheet (F4 and F5) but to get the best out of it VT Transactions+ gives a TB plus some other reporting functions and VT Final Accounts produces professional set of final accounts in different formats.
Like Shaun, I have no connection with VT, just a fan (I have used Sage and QB and although I don't dislike them, I much prefer VT)
