CIS Return dates

When you go to hmrc online and look at the CIS returns you have filed online for CIS the first return for each year is dated 5 April return, I though this should have been 5 May return as payroll is - anyone know why this is?

I have no idea but does seem strange as the 5 April is the previous year!

I have spoke to HMRC both CIS and CIS online departments, they acknowledge that this is a problem but their "IT partners" have not been able to resolve.
