Bookkeeping for a friend/soletrader

I am currently doing "bookkeeping" for a friend who is a sole trader.  I can hardily call it bookkeeping though as he will only let me log his purchase invoices.  I am currently using Sage 50 this.  He doesnt have a business account set up so i dont see his statements and most of his income is through paypal at which it makes monthly totals himself for quarterly VAT.

I was hoping to gain more experience in bookkeeping but this isnt much help as its just data input.

He is also paying me invoices such as his home telephone, baby nursery care, petrol receipts.. He doesnt work from home as he rents a small unit.

What should i do and any advice on the above really smile.gif

not 100% sure what you question is, but you can just continue on down the road as you are doing, basically helping him out with the paperwork side of the business or you could ask for more responsibility or you could stop doing it.

Or are you suggesting that you think he is claiming expenses that he is not allowed to through the tax or VAT system?
