I am looking to change career (career is a very loose word to use with my previous jobs) and after some minimal experience with accounting / payroll (and a strong interest in the area) I have decided to study for an AAT qualification, obviously starting at level 2.
I currently work full-time, but obviously with lack of qualifications my salary is minimum wage. So I am looking to pay for a qualification over a period of time, instead of one lump sum. Does anyone know of any? I have tried Kaplan / Premier and neither site has any information (which I can find) regarding monthly payments.
I know a few of the ICB accredited providers offer monthly payments, but I don't think you can sit AAT examinations if you have not bought one of their courses (could someone clarify?).
Was your career move to go into an accountancy position in full time employment or self employed?
The only reason why I ask if that if you wanted to go self employed it might be easier to do an ICB course instead, however, if you are looking for employment you would probably be better with AAT qualifications.
I think Kaplan offers this only for classroom based courses ( I am not sure but I seem to remember something like that). Be aware of Home Learning College! THey do offer payment in installments but their course prices are twice as much as others and anyway just read their reviews on this forum... I would recommend Ideal Schools but they don't do AAT. They do CAT what is very similar and would serve you as an easier entry route to ACCA if you decide to study more. (I mean easier to get exemptions as they are automatic, the studies are not easier)
Thanks for the replies, I have contacted Premier training after a few good comments on here and it turns out that they do offer their courses over a 5 monthly payment period. I'm hoping to get started as soon as possible, luckily for me I got a call for a job interview with an accountants nearby for a general admin assistant job I applied for (I have worked in retail for 9 years, since leaving school) so all this research I have done might actually pay off!
Anyway, thanks again, time to prepare for my interview on Thursday!

Why would James want to visit the Responsible Service of Alchol for Queensland Australia?

I think a few spammers have appeared today although they haven't given the game away yet - just the obvious clue, the link in the signature. Can't even give them a yellow card.

The bummer for me is that when I fix(!) the links there is a documentation overhead associated with it. That's why I gave John 30 minutes before stomping on his link.
I think in this case I'm actually giving John the benefit of the doubt at the moment and hoping that he really meant to post a link to OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and RSA examinations board).
So the link should have been to somewhere like here :

no problems. As mentioned above I thought that there was probably a simple explanation.
Just recently we've been getting quite a few spammers on the site which is making us a bit more wary than we have been in the past about first time posters.
Glad that this one's all sorted now.
Welcome to the forum. What's your background? Are you studying accountancy at the moment or are you already in business?
Look forwards to hearing from you,
kind regards,
Shaun.
