I'm currently looking at my options of starting my own practice and can get ICPA status pretty easily as have the experience and references to go with it. I also have 7 ACCA exemptions but not sure if i'm ever gonna have the chance to get signed off on anything even if i completed the other 7 papers. I'm wondering if anyone knows whats necessary to act as agents on behalf of a client in terms of qualifications/professional memberships? can I still get agent codes from HMRC before I receive my ICPA membership? Will they refuse accounts if I submit if i dont get ICPA membership?
You don't need any qualifications to become an Agent, what you do need before you start to work for anyone is registration under Anti Money Laundering Regulations. This can either be done but registering with and paying HMRC direct or under supervision of one of the supervisory bodies.
