Hi,

I have recently passed ICb level1 exam and looking forward to give the level 2 exam.Is it necessary to have sage on your computer for ICB level 2 exam or nay other software such as TAS books would be sufficient too.Is the trial version of sage good for exam purpose.
If anyone has any information please let me know.

The letter that accompanies the exam states you can use any computerised software but you need to ensure that the reports submitted contain all the information requested.

I've never used TAS Books so can't comment on it but I did mine on Sage Instant.

Nope you do it at home and then send your reports back to ICB for marking.

Hi there,

I think you are getting mixed up beween the ICB Level 1 & 2 manual and the computerised exams.

Are you doing the Level 2 computerised, as you don't need computer software for Level 2 manual? Level 2 manual is done online like Level 1.

I misunderstood the op and thought they were talking about level 2 computing. Thats the one that's done at home.

You're right, Level 2 manual is done at a test centre. I've got my test on Wednesday.

Well done Tony. Yes it's really good to get your results straight away. No weeks of worrying! Are you going on to take Level III?

Ta' Pauline - the idea is to ultimately do as many papers as I can. Believe it or not, starting to study ICB after all these years has rekindled my enthusiasm. I really enjoyed level 2 - is that normal ;)

I'm sure you are normal Tony smile.gif Seeing as I am the same! I've always loved learning (well except when I was at school...lol) and I think you should use your brain as much as possible as you get older smile.gif

I asked the same question a little while ago.  James from ICB said that you do not need Sage for the exam.

Which is good because I run Ubuntu and thinking of using GnuCash.

You don't need Sage specifically but you do need a bookkeeping package of some kind that can generate the reports required to be submitted.
I find it quite bizarre that you do the computerised exam then send in paper copies of reports. Would be good if you could just .pdf them and email them in!

Hi,

Thanks everyone for the replies.I have received the paper now, would be sending it back in a few days.
Does any one have a idea  about what an ICB member can/can't do after qualifying.I mea what type of reports you can sign and what you can't plus other professional rules to be followed.

Thanks everyone once again.

Theres a lot of info on the ICB website about what you can and can't do and what services you can offer. For example if you have a Practice Licence but haven't done the Payroll course then you can't offer payroll services.

Have a good read of the website adn it should make it all clear
